Kickboxing career

He made his first BigBang Lightweight title challenge against Kyoshiro during BigBang 27.[4] The fight ended in a draw. Hayashi challenged again nine months later, winning the fight by a decision.[5] Hayashi fought Kiyoshi Kawanaka during Krush 64. He won the fight in less than two minutes, by KO.[6]

He participated in the 2017 Krush 63 kg tournament, facing Gonnapar Weerasakreck in the semi finals.[7] Hayashi lost the fight in the first round by KO.[8] Kenta fought Taito during Krush 85. He defeated Taito by a first round right hook KO.[9] In September 2018, Hayashi fought the future K-1 Super Lightweight champion Rukiya Anpo. Kenta lost the fight in the third round, after being KO'd by a left straight.[10] Hayashi took part in the 2018 K-1 Lightweight Tournament. He had his closest fight in the semi finals against Nicolas Gaffie, when he won by a split decision. In the semifinals he defeated Yuto Shinohara by a first round KO. He faced Fumiya Osawa in the finals, and likewise won by KO, in the third round.[11]

After his tournament winner, he fought the reigning K-1 Lightweight champion Koya Urabe during K-1: K’FESTA 2.[12] Hayashi won the fight through a decision, after an extra round was fought.[13] In August 2019 he fought Deniz Demirkapu.[14] Hayashi won the fight by a second round TKO.[15] Hayashi fought Daiki Kaneko during K-1's 2019 Yokohamatsuri event.[16] Kenta won the fight by a second round KO.

Kenta fought Taio Asahisa during K-1: K’Festa 3.[17] Asahisa won the fight by a unanimous decision.[18] Hayashi was scheduled to make his first K-1 title defense against Gonnapar Weerasakreck on September 22, 2020. A month before the fight Hayashi suffered a left rib fracture and a fracture of his right ring finger during practice. The fight was therefore postponed and is now scheduled to take place at K-1 World GP Japan 2020 on December 13, 2020.[19][20] Hayashi lost the fight by majority decision.[21]
