Khanate of Nishapur
The Khanate of Nishapur was a mediaeval feudal state that existed in Persia from 1747 to 1798, whose capital was in the city of Nishapur.
History
Safavid rulers had transferred Nishapur to the Qizilbash tribe of the Bayats. The elder branch of the Bayats had settled in Nishapur since the 16th century. Shah Abbas I had exempted the tribe from taxes.
In 1747, Nishapur Khanate was founded by Abbas Quli Khan (r. 1747-1779), after the collapse of the Afsharids.
Jafar Khan (r. 1779-1798) led the Khanate to its apex.
In 1798, the Qajars conquered the Khanate, ending half a century of Khanate's rule.
