History
The predecessor of the contemporary Kotka Harbour halt, Satamakatu, was in use from 1932 to 1938, and was situated some 200 metres (660 ft) further east from the current platform.
The halt was opened for regular use by the trains between Kouvola and Kotka on 31 May 1998, primarily to allow easier access to the town center as well as to serve the customers of the Kristina Cruises passenger terminal in the harbour.[5] Before 1998, the routes of passenger trains were occasionally extended to the site of the current terminus to coincide with the Kotka Maritime Festival.[3]
Services
Kotka Harbour is the southern terminus of all trains on the commuter train line Kouvola–Kotka; some of these services are operated from or continue towards Lahti as well.[6]
