Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research

Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research (KCCR) is a biomedical research institute located at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana. It a joint venture between MoH and the Bernhard Notch Institute for Tropical Medicine in Hamburg, Germany.[1] It was founded in 1998 and has about 51-100 workers. The center's objective is to develop a series of world research programs through the acquisition of research grants.[2] The center also test samples for COVID-19 pandemic in Ghana which are performed and confirmed by them.[3][4][5][6][7]

History

KCCR is an international platform for biomedical research and a nonprofit research center in Ghana and globally.[8] It bases on the campus of KNUST in Kumasi in the Ashanti region in the country.[9][10] It has close cooperation with the Medical School and other related facilities making it develop into a research center of the College of Health Sciences.[11]

Supports

StanChart Bank supported the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research Centre with PCR to expand testing capabilities for the fight against Coronavirus.[9] The Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors also supported the center with GH¢100,000.[12]
