Plot summary
While visiting French Indochina with his girlfriend and her family on her father's yacht, freeloading American playboy Bill Carey (Robert Taylor) falls in love with Manon DeVargnes (Hedy Lamarr), a beautiful, local woman of mixed race background he meets in Saigon. Manon is also being romantically pursued by local businessman Pierre Delaroch (Joseph Schildkraut). Bill eventually marries Manon. When Bill is unable to find employment in Saigon, Delaroch secretly arranges to have Bill employed by his company.
