Lango tribe

The Langove (Balochi: لانگو), are a Sulemani-speaking Baloch tribe in Balochistan, Pakistan.

The people of this tribe are inhibited in Mangocher, Quetta, Noshki, Wadh, Khuzdar, Lasbela, Uthal, Mastung districts of Balochistan and some live in Sindh, Larkana, Hyderabad, Karachi, districts Sindh provinces. Langove is the major tribe of Baloch.In addition, many tribe members have settled in different countries for centuries Iran, Afghanistan, India, Turkmenistan, Azaerbaijan, Russia, Canada, USA and UAE. The majority of the people of this tribe speak Sulemani dialect of the Balochi language. A few who live in neighborhoods of Brahui tribes speak Brahui language, many of them live in villages, they are agriculturalists by profession.

It consists of three major subtribes, Meeranzai,Halizai and Shadizai.[1]

History

According to the historian 'Abd alHaqq, the author of the Tärikh-i Haqqi (written in 1592–3), with the decline of the power of the sultans of Delhi, Budhan Khan of Sindh, the chief of the Baluch tribe of the Längāh, assembled his force. He expelled the Khan-i Khanan, occupied the fort, took the title of Mahmūd Shāh in 1437 He ruled for sixteen years and laid the foundations of the Langove sultanate.[2]

Notes

In Sindh and Punjab this tribe is named Langah and in Balochistan they are named as Langove.
