Liger (film)

Liger is an upcoming Indian romantic sports film written and directed by Puri Jagannadh and jointly produced by Karan Johar, Charmme Kaur, Apoorva Mehta, Hiroo Yash Johar and Puri Jagannadh under the banners of Dharma Productions and Puri Connects.[1] Shot simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi, the film features Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday in lead roles.[2]

Pre-production

Devarakonda, who plays a kickboxer with a stutter, underwent a dramatic physical transformation for his role and went to Thailand for martial arts training.[4] Janhvi Kapoor was the first choice to portray female lead, but due to date issues, she was replaced by Ananya Panday.[5]

Principal photography

Filming began on 20 January 2020 in Mumbai, when it tentatively titled as Fighter.[6] 40% shoot was completed when the production was halted in March 2020 due to Coronavirus lockdown in India.[7] The second schedule will take place in Hyderabad.[8]

Release

The film will be simultaneously released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.[9][10] It was initially planning a theatrical premiere in November 2020, but the filming halt due to COVID-19 pandemic caused its postponement.[11]
