List of Appalachian State Mountaineers playoff games

The Appalachian State Mountaineers football team currently represents Appalachian State University in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) college football. The Mountaineers have competed in the top level of college football, the Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), as members of the Sun Belt Conference since 2014. From 1982 to 2013, the Mountaineers competed in the second tier of Division I football, the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), in the Southern Conference (SoCon). During its tenure in FCS (known as Division I-AA before the 2006 season), Appalachian State appeared in the playoffs 20 times, tied for second most all-time. The Mountaineers made their first appearance in 1986 and their last in 2012. During their final season as SoCon members in 2013, they were ineligible for the playoffs, having officially started their two-year transition to FBS football at that time. Appalachian's playoff resume includes 41 total games played, accounting for 24 wins and 17 losses. The Mountaineers won 13 straight games on the way to capturing three consecutive national championships from 2005 to 2007.
