Lokogoma District, Abuja

Lokogoma (or 'Lokogoma Cadastral Zone C09') is a residential area of Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria. It is located just 30 minutes from the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport and is located 25 minutes from the city centre and It is still in development.

Lokogoma has undergone a lot of development over the recent years and with this has come a significant increase in population. A number of gated houses estates have sprung up along the Lokogoma expressway.

History

Lokogoma started when the ex-abuja minister created more land for people seeking land outside the city centre.

Neighborhood overview

A large number of housing estates have been built in the area and further are under construction. Ring Road 2, or the Lokogoma Expressway as it is often called, is a key feature of the district. Urban expansion of Abuja from its inner core has led to considerable development in the area. The Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) has affirmed commitment to improving the districts infrastructure and work is on-going. The neighborhood is a popular one with the city’s middle class, given the availability of more modestly priced housing. Due to this, the population in the neighborhood has steadily grown in recent years. The increase in population has resulted in added demand for goods and services from residents. This has resulted in the establishment of a wide variety of shops and business. As of today, Lokogoma is among the most established and busiest neighborhoods in Abuja phase 3. As of January 2021, there are numerous places for residents to obtain their items of necessity as well as locations for relaxation.These include grocery outlets, sit-outs, eateries, mini shopping outlets, bars and fruit stores. Places of interest include Prince Ebeano Supermarket, S-Base Park and Faith Plaza.[1]

Getting around

The district is positioned near Galadimawa to the north west, Gaduwa to the north, Apo-Dutse in the north east and Kabusa in the south. Driving into the Central Business District takes around 20 minutes.[2]

Land and houses in Lokogoma

Being situated in outer Abuja, the price of houses and land in Lokogoma is relatively cheap, compared to Abuja’s more exclusive districts like Asokoro or Guzape.

However, there has been strong demand from people looking for affordable homes and as a result prices have risen lately.[3]
