Lombardstown
Lombardstown (Irish: Baile Lombaird)[1] is a village seven miles west of the town of Mallow in County Cork, Ireland.[2] It takes its name from the Lombard family who came to Ireland from Lombardy in Northern Italy in the Middle Ages and became rich and prominent, with branches of the family in Waterford and Cork. Lombardstown is within the Cork North-West (Dáil constituency).

It has a co-op and a post office. Its main employer is the mill.
Notable people
From 1912 the noted Irish tenor, John McCormack, spent many summers in the area after he purchased a small cottage outside the village. McCormack became a regular face in the local train station as this was his mode of transport for his journey from Athlone to Lombardstown. It was common for locals to gather outside McCormack's cottage to hear him practice his performances, diction and breath control. In 1918, McCormack sold this cottage as he no longer had time to travel to Cork due to his singing commitments in the US.
