Longewala
Longewala is a border town in the Thar Desert in the western part of Jaisalmer district, in the state of Rajasthan, India. It is very close to the border with Pakistan and is most notable as the location of the Battle of Longewala during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.

Longewala - The Battlefield
The Battle of Longewala was one of the first major engagements in the western sector during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, fought between assaulting Pakistani forces and Indian defenders at the Indian border post of Longewala, in the Thar Desert of Rajasthan state in India.The battle was fought between 120 Indian soldiers accompanied by 4 Hunter fighter aircraft and 2000-3000 Pakistani soldiers accompanied by 30-40 tanks.

Mateshwari Tanot Rai Temple is situated at 150 km from Jaisalmer city. It is constructed by Bhati Rajput Naresh (King) Tanurav. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Tanot. There is no need to pay any entry fee. This Temple opens from 05:00 AM to 09:30 PM. The best time to visit this temple is between November to January. This Temple is under the Border Security Force. This Temple is also known as 'Temple of Miracles'.
Jaisalmer War Museum
Jaisalmer War Museum is also called as JWM. Jaisalmer War Museum was constructed in the Military station in order to honor the soldiers of the 'Battle of Longewala'. The Battle of Longewala was fought in the year 1971. The Place also involves mural of soldiers who lost their lives at the time of the war. To visit this place, you should not be required to pay any entry fee. Approximately, 01 to 02 hours will be needed to visit this place. This place opens from 10:00 AM to 06:00 PM.
