"Love & Devotion" is a hit single by the German Eurodance/Pop music project Real McCoy (also known as M.C. Sar & The Real McCoy). The single was originally an album track featured on their original Space Invaders album. It was later released in Europe in 1995 as a Real McCoy single. For unknown reasons, the single was not released in the U.S. by Arista. It was produced in 1994 in Germany by the music producers Juergen Wind (J. Wind) and Frank Hassas (Quickmix) under the producer team name Freshline. The single peaked within the Top 10 in Australia and Finland, and reached number 11 in the UK.

Critical reception

AllMusic editor Bryan Buss picked the song as one of the standout tracks from the Another Night album.[1] Lennox Herald wrote that "Love & Devotion" "has shades of Ace of Base which probably means that it will be a hit."[2] Music & Media noted in their review, that "musically the Berlin duo carries on with a reggae-styled Euro dance follow-up to Another Night."[3]

Chart performance

"Love & Devotion" was a major hit on the charts in Europe, peaking within the Top 10 in Finland and Scotland. And it was a Top 20 hit in Austria, Belgium, Ireland, Sweden and the United Kingdom, as well as on the Eurochart Hot 100, where the single reached number 19. In the UK, it peaked at number 11, in its first week on the UK Singles Chart on April 23, 1995.[4] On the UK Dance Singles Chart, "Love & Devotion" went to number 14. Additionally, it reached the Top 30 in Netherlands and the Top 40 in Germany. Outside Europe, the song hit number 7 in Australia and number 28 in New Zealand.

Music video

A music video was made to accompany the song. It features the band walking around in a city at night. The video was uploaded to YouTube in October 2006. As of August 2020, it has got more than 2,7 million views.[5]
