Temples

The 1300 years(B.C.7th Century) old temple is here. It is constructed by pandiya kingdom. The Cheras and Pandyas emblems are shown in temple inner wall. There are seven Amman temples worshiped by seven communities namely. There were many old temples and well developed houses there. But only two temples are survived by time. They are Kaliyugavarathar Temple and Perumal temple in South Manadu. Pankuni Uthiram is the festival celebrated by people coming from various parts of Tamilnadu. Saiva pillaimars,Nadars,Asaris,Thevars and Parayars are the communities living with peace. Esakkiamman temple,Kaliamman temple are also there.

Overview

Manadu Thandupathu panchayath, the name derives from the two villages namely Manadu and Thandupathu. Manadu is the village on the state highway runs from Tiruchendur to Nagercoil, 12 km from Tiruchendur. It is an ancient village. Many people are living in other places especially in Chennai. There was a mosque in dilapidated condition. People do various kinds of works. Nearby railway station is Tiruchendur,12 Km. For college studies, students go to Tiruchendur. All buses operated between Tiruchendur and Nagercoil are stopped in Manadu. Recently, by the efforts of youngsters and sports lovers of Manadu, there is an in-door Shuttle cock stadium was built and operated by the help of Tamilnadu Government, Member of Legislative Assembly(MLA)of Tiruchendur and some donors of the village and well wishers.
