Career
Moshiri began her career as a business reporter for Independent Radio News,[1] before joining the BBC. She is now a regular presenter of the afternoon and evening business news on BBC News, the corporation's 24-hour news channel. She is primarily a business reporter, but has also worked in other aspects of broadcasting.
In addition to her work on the domestic news channel, she is also a weekend presenter on BBC World News, and has worked as a news-reader, occasionally delivering the national BBC 8.00pm News Summary on BBC 1.
Personal life
Moshiri, also known as Moshi, was born in 1977 and graduated from University College London in 2000 with a BA in Italian.[2] She is married to Jonathan Farmer, Latin American Newsletters Editor at the BBC. They have three children. Her sister, Nazanine Moshiri, is also a television broadcaster.
Maryam and Nazanine were born in Tehran, and came to London with their parents before the Iranian Revolution. They have a younger sister, Marjan, who was born in London and is a doctor.
