Kidd was born at Cambridge and later moved to Devon, where he was educated at Ivybridge Community College, before going up to Oxford Brookes University.[1] While studying at Oxford Brookes, he made two appearances in first-class cricket for Oxford MCCU against Warwickshire and Worcestershire at Oxford in 2014 and 2015 respectively.[2][notes 1] He took one first-class wicket with his right-arm medium pace bowling, that of Warwickshire's Tim Ambrose.[3] In addition to playing first-class cricket, Kidd has also played minor counties cricket for Devon between 2011–14, making four appearances in the Minor Counties Championship and two in the MCCA Knockout Trophy.[4][5]
