Member of Parliament (France)

Members of Parliament (French: député français) in France sit in the National Assembly, which is the lower house of the French Parliament. Members are known as deputies.[1] The current session is the 15th legislature of the French Fifth Republic.

There are currently 577 French MPs.

In 2019, it was reported that the French government wanted to cut the number of MPs by 25%.[2]

Restrictions and privileges

Deputies have parliamentary privilege, and are restricted by the accumulation of mandates. MPs are paid 5,782.66 euros per month.[3]
