Mercury (film)
Mercury is a 2018 Indian horror thriller film written By Suresh Psr directed by Karthik Subbaraj. Though it is referred to by the makers as a "silent film", it is actually a sound film which lacks dialogues.[1] It stars an ensemble cast including Prabhu Deva, Sananth Reddy, Remya Nambeesan, Indhuja Ravichandran, Deepak Paramesh, Shashank Purushotham, Anish Padmanabhan, and Gajaraj.[2] S. Tirru was hired as the cinematographer, making his first collaboration with Subbaraj. The trailer of the movie released on 10 April 2018.[3] The film was released on 13 April 2018 worldwide except Tamil Nadu, where it was released on 20 April 2018.[4][5]

Plot
Maimed from mercury poisoning, five longtime friends come together for a high school reunion on a farm. Then, Michael (Sananth Reddy) plans to propose to Meera (Indhuja Ravichandran) and calls her and his friends and they go on a night drive at a place Michael proposes Meera and Meera accepts. Afterwards, while driving the other four friends home, Meera ends up running into a dog after the other four were messing with the headlights. Because of this, her vision was impaired. Somehow, the friends accidentally end up dragging a blind man (Prabhu Deva) to death. After dumping his body, the friends are terrorized by the man's ghost in mysterious ways.

The film's background score is composed by Santhosh Narayanan. A promotional single for the film, The Mercury Song, composed by Mithoon and lyrics penned by Sayeed Quadri was released on 29 March 2018.
Reception
It was opened to positive reviews praising cast ,Tirru's cinematography,direction. Common audiences criticized the film's slow pace.
On review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an approval rating of 67%, based on 12 reviews, and an average rating of 6/10.[6]
NDTV said "As for the shocks that one associates with the horror genre, they are conspicuous by their absence in Mercury" .
Firstpost commented "A group of youngsters try to escape from a man who has fallen prey to mercury poisoning in this silent thriller".
Times of India said "A silent horror film where the sound effects are the biggest stars!".
Behindwoods stated "Mercury is technically sound and convincingly silent! It could have worked well with better engagement".
