Minangkabau Wikipedia

The Minangkabau Wikipedia (Minangkabau: Wikipedia Minangkabau) is the edition of Wikipedia in the Minangkabau language. The Minangkabau Wikipedia was approved by the WMF Language Committee on 29 January 2013. Its site was officially launched on 7 February of the same year.[1]

As of 9 July 2020, the Minangkabau Wikipedia has 224.012 articles and 72 active editors.[2]

Minangkabau Wikipedia reached 1.000 articles on 24 March 2013, 10.000 articles on 3 September 2013, 100.000 articles on 7 September 2013, and 200.000 articles on 10 September 2013.[3]

The Minangkabau Wikipedia reached 1.000.000 page edits on 22 July 2015.[4]

The Minangkabau Wikipedia reached 10.000 registered users on 2 November 2019.[5]

Contributors

The Minangkabau Wikipedian community has a co-working space for Wikipedia and Wikimedia activities in Padang.[6] The community runs an internship program for new Wikipedians.[7]

Workshops and seminars

From 28 to 29 July 2015, Minangkabau Wikipedians organized a Minangkabau language workshop in cooperation with Badan Pengembangan dan Pembinaan Bahasa and Wikimedia Indonesia in Bogor.[8]

On 16 September 2018, Minangkabau Wikipedians organized a WikiGap workshop to promote more women contributors at Wikipedia, in cooperation with Wikimedia Indonesia and Swedish Embassy in Jakarta.[9][10]

Education programs

The Minangkabau Wikipedia is one of several Wikipedia editions in Indonesian languages that hosted a long-term Wikipedia education program (Wiki Masuk Sekolah), in cooperation with the Faculty of Humanities at Andalas University, Padang.[11]
