Moses Storm

Moses Jacob Storm (born May 6, 1990) is an American writer, actor, and comedian, who has appeared in film, radio, and television.

Early life

Moses Storm was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan as one of six children of missionary parents, in a "food insecure" household. Storm and his siblings were raised by their religious parents on a converted Greyhound Bus after he reached the age of two.[1] Moses was mostly homeschooled by his mother. From a young age, he watched Conan O'Brien by recording the episodes over Christian learning video tapes.[2]

Storm attended one semester of community college for video production but found it was not for him. Upon recognizing he was meant to be a performer, he 'escaped' his bizarre family life and moved to Los Angeles and took a job cleaning vomit. He alleges that he then became a comedian when he realized he was "good at nothing else."[3]

Career

Comedy

Storm is an alumnus of the UCB Theatre[4] and currently hosts a live program called Trifecta alongside Ify Nwadiwe and Christian Spicer at the UCB Theatre Sunset venue.[5] Previously, he co-hosted & produced a bi-monthly show on the Nerdist stage at Meltdown Comics called This Show is Your Show!,[6] which LA Weekly listed in their "Best Of" section as "Best Comedy Show."[7]

He has appeared as himself on Last Comic Standing, Conan,[8] and the NPR program Livewire, where he discussed his unorthodox upbringing.

He accompanied Conan O'Brien, as well as Ron Funches, Laurie Kilmartin, and Flula Borg, for select dates on O'Brien's limited "Conan & Friends: An Evening of Stand-Up and Investment Tips" tour in late 2018.[9]

Storm has also performed alongside Jo Firestone at the Toronto Comedy Festival for SiriusXM's JFL42 program.[10]

In 2018, he headlined a show at The Kennedy Center.[11] He also performed at the 2018 SF Sketchfest in shows with Fred Armisen and Jacqueline Novak.[12]

Storm recited a well-received monologue for The Moth titled "It Pays to Be Poor".[13] For this performance, Storm was awarded the title of The #MothGrandSlam Champion.[14]

Acting

As an actor, he has portrayed many characters in different projects on television, including The 4 to 9ers, Another Period, Youth and Consequences, About a Boy, This is Us, and Arrested Development. He also appeared in the Comedy Central Originals one-off special Ice To Iceland.[15]

In film, Storm received critical acclaim for his role as Mitch Roussel in the 2014 horror film Unfriended.[16] He played Jason in the TV movie Correcting Christmas, Skyler in The Wedding Party, and Trey in Father of the Year.

In 2014, Storm acted in and wrote a performance piece titled "Terminally Chill Birthday", in which he decided to try and throw himself a birthday party at a Chili's in the Los Angeles International Airport and documented his experience on camera. The video gained media attention from around the world, becoming a viral hit in the process. As a result, he gained some notoriety for this action.[17] His current project is The Modern Millennial, an immersive theater performance piece that was successfully funded on Kickstarter.[18]

Storm also appeared in a commercial for Burger King advertising the Whopper.[19]

Personal life

In 2014, Storm threw himself a birthday party at a Chili's in an airport and documented his experience. He gained some notoriety for this action.[20]
