NSBM Green University

NSBM Green University is a government owned self financed higher education institute[2] in Sri Lanka. Registered as an independent Private Limited Liability Company under Companies Act No. 07 of 2007 and having company number PB 4833 and specialising in Computer sciences, Business, Engineering and Technology. It is recognised as a degree awarding institute on 19 January 2016[3] under section 25A of the Universities Act No. 16 of 1978 by Ministry of Higher Education.[4][5] NSBM Green University was constructed with the objective of fulfilling the national need of increasing the higher education opportunities. The project was the result of efforts by Professor E. A. Weerasinghe, which received the support and recognition of the government and Cabinet of Ministers.[6] The massive university complex at Homagama, Sri Lanka was constructed with an investment of Rs.8.6 billion obtained via a bank loan from Bank of Ceylon and without being a burden to the government.[7]
