Narapati of Mrauk-U

Narapati of Mrauk U was a king of the Mrauk-U Dynasty of Arakan. He was a great grand son of Min Bin. When Min Sanay died from smallpox, he seized the throne for himself and bore the title of Narapati which means "Lord of the people". To secure his accession, Narapati murdered many royal relatives and nobles. This caused many nobles fled to Chittagong area.

In Narapati's reign, the military might of Mrauk U kingdom began to dwindle. However, one of achievements of Narapati was that he could established deplomatic ties with Ava in 1640. But he could not have good relation with Dutch for trade. The king ruled till when he died in 1644 and his son Thado succeeded him.
