Nebojša Bradić

Nebojša Bradić (Serbian Cyrillic: Небојша Брадић, born 1956) is a Serbian theater director. He served as the Minister of Culture in the Government of Serbia from 2008 to 2011.

Biography

NEBOJŠA BRADIĆ graduated directing on the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade.

He has worked as the director, artistic director and head of the Krusevac Theatre 1981- 1996. Under his directorship Krusevac`s theatre became one of the most respected and creative theatre in Serbia, with award - winning program.

Bradić was the head of the Theatre Atellier 212 in Belgrade 1996/97.

From 1997 – 1999. he was the director and general manager of the National Theatre in Belgrade. In three years he has driven major expansion of productions and transformation of institutional work, defining new vision and role in regional theatre network.

He was director and general director of Belgrade Drama Theatre from 2000 - 2008. Under Bradić`s leadership Belgrade Drama Theatre has been transformed from old fashioned house to innovative place for contemporary theatre.

In 2003. along with Aja Jung he has founded Belgrade Dance Festival which become internationally renowned.

He was Minister of Culture of Serbia 2008-2011. During Bradić`s post the arts and culture program has grown in size and received more investment. He has launched Creative Economy as an important part of culture system of Serbia.

Bradić was teaching acting at the Belgrade Academy of Fine Arts.

Nebojša Bradić has been Editor in Chief of Arts and Culture Program in Serbian Broadcasting Corporation (2015 - 2019.).

Bradić is editor in Clio publishing house.

Bradić is president of Creative Serbia and Danubefest.

He has directed more than 90 plays in Serbian, Bosnian, Croatian, Slovenian, Bulgarian and Greek theatres. He has also directed several operas and musicals. (Norma, Carmen, Werther, Les Miserables, Spring Awakening, Rebecca, Fiddler on the Roof...) Bradić wrote several plays and scripts for theatre, TV and film which had been realized in Serbia, Bosnia and Croatia). Bradić made about 20 set designs for theatre and opera.

Bradić is an author of many articles on theatre and culture politics.

He is the recipient of important Serbian (Steria`s award for adaptation and directing, Joakim Vujic`s awards for directing etc.) and international awards for directing and playwriting (Golden Knight, Lions`).

Awards

He is the recipient of important Serbian theatre awards. He was the first winner of the Nikola Peca Petrovic Award for the best Yugoslav theatre manager. He won nine awards as director at the Joakim Vujic Theatre Festival. He won nine award for the best directing at the first JoakimInterFest in Kragujevac 2006.[1] He received the Sterija Award for best modern theatre adaptation, dramatisation and directing, Award of the Knjaževsko-srpski teatar, The Ring with figure of Joakim Vujić 2008.[2]
