New Brighton, New South Wales
New Brighton, New South Wales, is a small town located north-west of Ocean Shores in the Northern Rivers region. It includes a soccer field home to the Shores United Soccer Club and is very close to the Ocean Shores Public School located in North Ocean Shores. At the 2016 census, New Brighton had a population of 356 people.[1]
New Brighton Beach
History
The area around what is today New Brighton was called North Beach, and was a popular spot for surfing and a site for picnics. On 6 May 1849, a cyclone carried Swift in a strong southeasterly wind as the schooner cast ashore on a beach north of present-day New Brighton. The town has since then appeared in a postcard and is a popular holiday destination.
