The New Jersey Senate is the upper house of the New Jersey Legislature. The 2020–2021 term (219th legislative session) began on January 14, 2020 and will end on January 11, 2022. The Senators elected to this term were elected on November 5, 2019 (except for those since appointed or elected in special elections) and will serve until the end of the next term in 2022. This session was preceded by the 2018–2019 session and will be followed by the 2022–2023 session.

Future senators

All state senators remain the same from the last session, except for Republican Mike Testa in the 1st District, who won a special election on November 5, 2019, which was held after Jeff Van Drew resigned in 2019 to join the United States House of Representatives. Democratic incumbent Bob Andrzejczak, who was appointed to replace Van Drew, lost the special election to Testa and was replaced by him on December 5, 2019.[1] This gives Republicans one more seat in the New Jersey State Senate.[2]
