Nina Seničar

Nina Seničar (born 11 November 1985 in Novi Sad, Serbia)[1] is a Serbian actress and model now living in Los Angeles. She has acted in several Hollywood movies, such as Papillon and Mayhem, as well as appearing in Italian film and television productions.

Hollywood career

In 2017 and 2018, Seničar appeared in The Downside of Bliss with Judd Nelson,[2] Papillon with Charlie Hunnam,[3] Mayhem with Samara Weaving,[4] and Doe with Mira Sorvino,[5] as well as doing voice work on Arctic Dogs alongside Alec Baldwin.[6] Seničar is also part of the credited cast of the 2017 film DriverX.[7] Prior to that, she had a role in the 2016 film Shortwave[8] and appeared on the television show The Librarians in a 2015 episode.[9][10]

She's been in a relationship with American actor Jay Ellis since 2015. She gave birth to their daughter in November 2019.[11]

International career

Seničar acts in several different languages, speaking English, Italian and Serbian. She began her career as a model and TV host, appearing on Italian television. She has acted in the sitcom Camera Café, hosted the talent show Velone, and been a celebrity contestant on the program L'isola dei famosi.[12][13][14][15][16] Seničar starred in several Italian features such as the 2016 film Una nobile causa,[17] the 2014 film Tutto molto bello,[18][19][20][21] and the 2013 film Otto e Mezza.[22] She also appeared in the films Napoletans,[23] Dark Resurrection - Volume 0,[24][25][26][27] and Compulsions.[28]

In 2017, Seničar starred in the Serbian film Prokleti pas[29][30] and had a role in the 2018 film Apsurdni eksperiment.[31]

Seničar starred in the 2018 film Cafe Con Leche, shot in Mexico City.[32] The English-language movie also starred Mexican actor Gerardo Taracena.

Background

Born in Novi Sad, Serbia,[1] Seničar started acting at the age of 14 in her high school drama club. In 2001, she was named Miss Yugoslavia. That same year, she earned the title of National Champion in show jumping and was also asked to join the national team. When she was 18 years old, Seničar won a full scholarship to study at Bocconi University in Milan. She graduated with a Master of Science degree in International Economics and Management in Arts, Culture, Media and Entertainment.[10] She later moved to the United States to study acting with drama coach Susan Batson.

Seničar is involved in the work of humanitarian organization Pangea Onlus,[33][34] a group that helps women around the world who are victims of violence.

Awards

In 2011, Seničar won the Best New Actress award in the Milano Film Festival.
