Plot
A winter-themed party takes place in Mystic Falls, but amongst the celebration Caroline and Stefan argue with Tyler over what to do with Klaus and his hybrids. Elena and Damon wake up in his bed, but with clothes on and being kind of sad and frustrated because they don't know if her feelings are real which she totally believes because of the sire bond. She gets him almost so far to make out with her again. But they are "saved" by the cellphone: Elena needs to meet Bonnie because she is teaching Jeremy how to not kill her. But she asks him if he wants to come. Meanwhile, Elena and Damon go to the Gilbert Lake House to help Jeremy face some dangerous inner demons with the help of Bonnie and Professor Shane, who shares a piece of ancient history that leaves them all speechless.
Hayley reveals to Tyler that there is no witch, and that she made a deal that could help her find her family which included a sacrifice of the twelve hybrids for which Klaus was needed. Meanwhile, Klaus discovers Tyler's plan and kills all twelve hybrids. Later on, an agitated Klaus drowns Carol Lockwood when he cannot find Tyler. Caroline reveals to Stefan that Damon and Elena are still together right after Damon, still being at the lake house, sets Elena free after he sees her being normal and happy family with her brother. Damon was already conflicted between doing what he wants and what would be the right thing to do by her and by his brother. He didn't feel good about lying to Stefan who feels enraged when he comes to know that Elena was with Damon.
She tried to fight him but he's too fast this time and at the end she tells him that she was ready to fight him on this, but that suddenly every part of her body is telling her to get in Bonnie's car and leave him. He answers just: "So do it,"and she kisses him goodbye. Also he told her that he would take care of her brother and would help him complete his hunters mark.
April opens Rebekah's tomb.
