Oinoi railway station (Greek: Σιδηροδρομικός σταθμός Οινόης, romanized: Sidirodromikós stathmós Oinois) is the railway station of Oinoi in Boeotia, Greece. It is located near the Motorway 1. It is situated at the junction of the Piraeus–Platy railway and the branch line to Chalcis (Oinoi–Chalcis railway). It is owned by OSE, but service are provided by TrainOSE, through Proastiakos from Athens to Chalcis,[2] and Intercity trains between Athens and Thessaloniki.[3]

History

The station opened on 29 June 1904. In 1971, the Hellenic State Railways was reorganised into the OSE [4] taking over responsibilities for most for Greece's rail infrastructure. In 2009, with the Greek debt crisis unfolding OSE's Management was forced to reduce services across the network. Timetables were cutback and routes closed, as the government-run entity attempted to reduce overheads.

In 2017 OSE's passenger transport sector was privatised as TrainOSE, currently a wholly owned subsidiary of Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane[5] infrastructure, including stations remained under the control of OSE. Since 6 May 2005 the station has been served by Proastiakos link between Athens and Chalcis.[2]

Facilities

As of (2020) station has waiting rooms and staffed booking office. The station has a buffet, as well as toilets, parking. Taxi rank also available, with platform shelters on the island platform.

Service

The station is served by Regional services to Leianokladi, Express services to Kalambaka and Intercity routes to Athens and Thessaloniki. Proastiakos with frequent services to Athens and Chalcis.[2]
