Oliver Sacks: His Own Life
Oliver Sacks: His Own Life is a 2019 American biographical documentary film directed and created by Ric Burns about Oliver Sacks, a British neurologist and science historian, based on his autobiography, His Own Life.[1] Produced under the banner of the Zeitgeist Films, it stars Roberto Calasso, Kate Edgar, Atul Gawande and Shane Fistell besides Oliver Sacks as a protagonist character.[2] It initially premiered in 2019 at the Telluride Film Festival. Its general release is scheduled to be premiered in 2020.[3] The documentary was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic since it first premiered at Telluride.[4]

The film talks about the life of a British neurologist who spent his professional life treating his patients suffering from medical complications such as substance abuse, homophobia involving mental health.[5] His book titled My Own Life was published by The New York Times six to seven months before his end-stage disease terminal cancer was diagnosed.[6]
