Orange County Drum and Percussion

Orange County Drum and Percussion (abbreviated OCDP) is an American custom drum manufacturer located in Orange County, California. Since 2011, the company is owned by retail chain Guitar Center and only sells ready-made drum kits in set configurations that are mass-produced in China. Only artists endorsed by OCDP are allowed custom designed and manufactured kits, the most notable of which is Travis Barker who has a signature kit available for purchase.

Products

  • The Newport series features all-maple shells, 50% offset lugs, and exclusive "V" mounting system. They come in shell packs of 4 or 5pcs and have a 20x22" bass drum with no snare. Depending on the kit, colors include a silver or blue sparkle lacquer or a piano black finish.
  • The Avalon series is also 100% maple with 50% offset lugs and "V" mounting system but comes in a 6pc set including a 20x22" virgin bass drum, 8x10", 9x12", 12x14" and 14x16" toms with a matching 6.5x14" snare. These are available in black or moody blue sparkle with black nickel hardware.
  • The Venice series features basswood shells in 4 and 5pc kits in a variety of configuration that all include a matching snare.

Snare Drums

Vented snare drums were a large part of the OCDP offering for most of the '90's, and became very popular due to their use by groups like 311, Blink 182, and No Doubt. This is a snare shell that has had a large opening cut into it. This opening allows more air and sound to escape the drum for a louder and dryer sound, popular with that genre.[1]

Artists

Drummers that use OCDP include: Travis Barker, Adrian Young, Alex Dontre and John Otto, Erik Sandin and Jaron Pearlman, touring drummer for the Indigo Girls. Between 1996 and 2002, former Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison used OCDP, before switching to Pearl Drums. Other past endorses include Ray Luzier of Korn (who's also now coincidentally endorsing Pearl) and Atom Willard.
