Oriental University

Oriental University is a university in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India. It was established in 2011.[1] Oriental University is spread over 100 acres on Indore-Ujjain highway near international airport and new proposed railway station. The University is designed by M/S Hafeez Contractor of Mumbai.

After having established nine professional colleges (five engineering, one advanced computer application, two pharmacy and one management studies) the Oriental Group, recognized as a premier educational group of Central India and enjoying national ranking, the founders of Devi Shakuntala Thakral Charitable Foundation, have set up Oriental University, established by an act of Madhya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha under Section 2f of UGC Act, 1956. Oriental University is the first self-funded private university in Indore.

History

Oriental Group first established at Bhopal then open College at Indore. In 2011 this got become first self financed university of Madhya Pradesh and got the University status under section 2f of UGC, 1956 Act with effect from May 2011.

Founder

Dr. K. L. Thakral

Dr. K. L. Thakral was born on 1929 in Punjab, which is now a part of Pakistan. He migrated to India after partition of the country in 1947. After a tough struggle, he completed his education, MA in History from Meerut College, Meerut in 1955 and settled, along with his family, at Bhopal in mid-February, 1960, 55 years ago.

He was president of Industries' Association, Bhopal for three times and contributed substantially in establishment of industries there. He is also the Founder of MP KAPI Udyog Sangh. After a successful stint in industry, he shifted to education in 1992.

He is the founder president of Devi Shakuntala Thakral Charitable Foundation, Bhopal, the sponsors of Oriental Group of Institutes at Bhopal, Jabalpur and Indore. He established Oriental University, Indore in 2011. It is the first private university at Indore. He is the chancellor of Oriental University.

Oriental University Campus located Village Jakhiya Indore Ujjain Road Indore. The campus have All department buildings, Hostel, Canteen, Play Ground and Library. The campus is of 100 Acre.
