Písečná (Ústí nad Orlicí District)
Písečná (German: Schreibersdorf) is a village in the foothills of Orlicke Hory (Orlické Mountains). Below the dark green mountain Žampach, with the ruins of the Gothic tower, is located the village Písečná. The village lies in the scenic valley on the shores of the Potocnice stream, not far from Letohrad but away from the busy highways. The village has preserved its character up to the present day; scattered developments in the hilly countryside with voluminous greenery, several ponds, well-preserved heritage homes and farms, scores of picturesque nooks, and many wayside shrines. In the area close to the village are located intriguing natural formations, distinct hills and sheer ridges, soaring hundred of meters above the surrounding grounds. The hills were formed during the Permian. They are pieced together from sediments bonded with ferrous cement, which gives the soil its distinct reddish coloring.
