She was abused both mentally and physically by her new family.[2] Her husband left her and he and his family took no responsibility for her or her children. Nevertheless she and her children survived. Her father was running a charity he had started called "Adivasi Vikas Trust".[2] She started to help in 1984.[3] She worked as a day labourer after she returned to live with her father in 2000.
