Pasifika Air

Pasifika Air is a New Zealand startup airline planning to operate scheduled direct passenger flights between Christchurch, New Zealand and Rarotonga, Cook Islands.[1] Originally called "JetRaro", the airline was rebranded as Pasifika Air in December 2020.[2]

In July 2020, Christchurch businessman Mike Pero[3] announced his intention to incorporate the airline, subject to government approval, to form an airlink between Christchurch and the Cook Islands following the lifting of border restrictions as the result of the COVID-19 pandemic.[1]

The initial proposal is to operate between three and five direct flights per week between Christchuch and Rarotonga, using an Airbus A320 aircraft.[1][4] In December 2020 Pero announced plans to lease 737-800s from Virgin Australia, and to conduct flights from Wellington as well as Christchurch.[2]

The company was registered in early December 2020, and it has begun the process of getting an Air Operator's Certificate. It expects to begin flights in May 2021.[2]
