Persewon Wondama

Persewon stands for Persatuan Sepakbola Wondama (en: Football Association of Wondama). Persewon Wondama is an Indonesian football club based in Teluk Wondama Regency, West Papua. The club play in Liga Indonesia First Division. Persewon are from an isolated part of West Papua. Because of the lack of playing facilities their climb from the Third to First Division has been made on the island of Java where training facilities and stadiums are more readily available. On Java island they have a large following who call themselves "Wondamania". There are plans to build a stadium in the West Papuan regency of Wondama Bay (Ind. Teluk Wondama) during 2011 and 2012. Their colours are Green and yellow striped shirts and green shorts.
