Pete Eckert

Pete Eckert is a blind light-painting photographer who creates images using sound, touch, and memory.[1][2] Eckert was trained in sculpture and industrial design. He was enrolled in Yale University’s architecture program when he was diagnosed with Retinitis pigmentosa.[3][4]

Eckert has done photographic work for Swarovski and Playboy. He worked on the latter photo shoot with fellow blind photographer Bruce Hall; they are the only blind photographers to shoot for Playboy. In 2013, Eckert's "Electroman" image was made into a US postage stamp.[5] Additionally, Eckert took the pictures for Volkswagen’s Arteon model.[6][7]

Eckert's work has been featured in the SOMArts Cultural Center and the California Museum of Photography.[8][9]
