He started his senior career in IFK Göteborg, trying his luck in Norway and Lillestrøm SK from 1988.[1] After winning the 1989 1. divisjon the injury-plagued Hedman went back to Göteborg and Örgryte IS to heal.[2] He got a second stint in Lillestrøm in 1994–1995, faring better in front of the goal with 9 league goals.[3] Continuing his career in Uddevalla and Göteborg with IK Oddevold and GAIS, he tried his luck in Norwich City.[1]
He settled in Fjärås and worked in insurance and with horses.[3]
