Pieces of Her (TV series)

Pieces of Her is an upcoming American thriller drama web television series created by Charlotte Stoudt, based on the eponymous 2018 novel by Karin Slaughter, that is set to premiere on Netflix.[1]

Premise

Pieces of Her follows the story of Andrea who is caught in a deadly mass shooting at a local diner. Moments later, she witnesses her mother Laura, violently eliminating the threat with such ease. As Andrea begins to unravel her mother's actions on that very day, her perspective on their entire familial relationship takes a new turn. Soon after, figures of her mother's past reappear and she is forced to escape. While on the journey, she attempts to piece together the remnants of truth that her mother buried long ago.[2]

Development

On February 5, 2019, it was announced that Netflix had given the production a series order for a 8-episode first season.[3] The series was created by Lesli Linka Glatter, Charlotte Stoudt and Bruna Papandrea, all of whom were expected to executive produce. Production companies involved with the series were slated to consist of Made Up Stories and Endeavor Content.[4][5][6] Stoudt is also credited as the writer and showrunner of the series, whilst Minkie Spiro will direct the entirety of the first season.[7]

Casting

In February 2020, Toni Collette and Bella Heathcote were cast in starring roles.[8][9] In May 2020, it was announced that David Wenham was cast in a starring role.[10] In January 2021, Jessica Barden, Joe Dempsie, Jacob Scipio, and Omari Hardwick joined the main cast.[11] In February 2021, Gil Birmingham, Terry O’Quinn and Calum Worthy joined the cast in recurring roles.[12]

Filming

Principal photography for the first season was originally expected to begin on March 16, 2020 and conclude on July 17, 2020 in Burnaby, British Columbia.[13] Filming is scheduled to commence in January 2021 in Sydney, Australia.[14]
