Piophila
Piophila is a genus of small two-winged flies which includes the species known as the cheese fly. As a whole, the genus is often called wine flies; they prefer fermented foodstuffs to deposit their eggs. Piophila vulgaris visits Arum maculatum flowers in England. The genus is found in the Palearctic.[1][2]

Description
Round, purplish or dark green eyes. Interocular space with parallel or convergent sides. Antennae sockets superficial. Ocellar bristles usually shorter than the posterior vertical bristles. Short antennae, well separated at the base. Black body, more or less bright or chagrined, sometimes with coppery reflections. Humeral present or not (casei). Glassy wings, without an apical brown spot: often with pale veins. The abdomen is short, oval or square.[3]

- Piophila senescens (Melander & Spuler, 1917) (junior synonym – Piophila nigriceps (Macquart, 1851)Scutellum flattened and covered with microscopic impressions. Interocular space entirely black, bare. Wings with thin pale veins. Occiput polished. Genitalia thick and densely fringed. Long 2-5.4 mm.
- Piophila vulgaris (Fallén) = Parapiophila Propleura satin. Black occiput with grey pruinosity. Vertex, upper part of the eye margins and ocellar triangle blck. Cheeks wide. Legs black, except the coxae and "knees"; femora III mostly black. Long 2–3 mm.
