Career
Hare is a professional sailing coach and a writer for Yachting World.[2] In 2013 she wrote and presented a YouTube series for the magazine, entitled “Sail Faster Sail Safer”.
Hare has competed in international yacht races such as the Transat Jacques Vabre and the Rolex Fastnet race.[3][4][5] In 2009 she competed in the OSTAR transatlantic race. In 2017 Hare's team came third in the Three Peaks Yacht Race, despite Hare breaking her ankle 6 miles from the finish.[1]
Vendée Globe
In October 2018, after being offered the 1999 IMOCA 60 vessel Superbigou (which she now rents from fellow sailor Jaanus Tamme), Hare announced her campaign to enter the Vendée Globe race. This race commenced in November 2020.[6][4][7] Hare is one of four entrants from the United Kingdom.[3][8][9] Hare has chosen to base her campaign in Poole.[8] She will be sponsored by Smartsheet.[10]
Her ambition was to break the current female record of 94 days, 4 hours and 25 minutes set by Ellen MacArthur in 2001, but this was done by Clarisse Crémer with 87 days, 2 hours and 24 minutes.
