Prestea-Huni Valley District

The Prestea-Huni Valley Municipality[1] is one of the twenty-two(22) districts in the Western Region of Ghana. Its capital is Bogoso. The district is among the new districts and municipals created in 2008 by the then President, John Agyekum Kufuor. It was inaugurated on 29 February 2008. Has currently elevated to a municipal level by Prez. Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo-Addo in 2017

It has four major towns namely, Prestea, Huni Valley, Aboso and Bogoso. It also has about 29 villages and small-town notable including Damang, mining town.

The municipal has three secondary schools namely, St. Augustine's senior high school, Huni Valley senior high school and Prestea senior high technical school.

The municipal is rich in gold and cocoa, timber and magnesium.

It also have a historical site at Atwereboana, for the war of nsaman k), and the death place for Sir Guggesberg.
