The album consists of thirteen cover songs which influenced Lee during his teenage years. Lee shortlisted the tracks for inclusion on the album in early 2019 during the Polar Vortex, as he was stuck in a Chicago hotel room while on tour with Radnor and Lee.[2]
Upon completion of the tour he invited musicians Julianna Barwick, William Tyler and Mary Lattimore into his home studio to record the musical framework for the album, after which Maria Taylor, Mike Watt, Petra Haden and Joey Waronker helped complete the recordings.
