Rémi Harrel

Rémi Harrel (born 9 March 1954 in Toulon, France) was a French international football referee.[1] and now he is Technical Animator at the French Football Federation.[2]

Career

He officiated 11 international matchesand was member of FIFA in 1989–1999. He attributed three EURO qualifying matches 1992 (1), 1996 (2) and six World Cup qualifying matches 1994 (4), 1998 (2)[3] and others were in friendly matches. He gave a red card in 1994 World Cup qualification match played between Iceland-Hungary (2:0) to hungarian Márton Gábor in 61st minute.[4] He was linesman in UEFA Euro 1988 Final. About this match he said in Interview that in I wanted to rise the flag for off-side in Marco van Basten's super goal but then saw that he was in same line with defenders. [5]

In club football he officiated some UEFA competition matches such as Champions League (4), UEFA Cup and qualification (9+2) and Intertoto Cup (2).[6] He also officiated 1995 UEFA Super Cup 1st leg played between Zaragoza-Ajax (1-1). He refereed 219 Ligue 1 matches and 19 Coupe de France matches in 1984-99. In 1997 UEFA Cup first round second-leg match Leicester-Atletico Madrid (0:2) he accepted more controversial decisions and for this match UEFA have decided that French referee will not officiate in any more matches.[7]
