Randy Rigby

Randy Rigby is the former Team President of the National Basketball Association (NBA)'s Utah Jazz. He served as Utah Jazz Team President from 1986 to 2016.[1] [2] As Jazz Team President, Rigby set strategic goals for the organization and analyzed growth opportunities. He also sits on the advisory board for the Larry H. Miller Group of Companies and is a member of the NBA Team Advisory Committee.

On February 17, 2016, Rigby announced his decision to retire from serving as the Utah Jazz Team President.[3] Rigby was succeeded in the role of Utah Jazz Team President by Steve Starks.[4]

Rigby previously served as Senior Vice President of Sales, Broadcasting, and Chief Marketing Officer for Larry H. Miller Sports & Entertainment, in addition to General Manager of KJZZ-TV. Rigby became the president of Utah Jazz after working as the Senior Vice President for three years at CFS Financial Corporation.[5]

Rigby was a member of the 1979 graduating class at Brigham Young University (BYU), where he earned a degree in Business Management with a special emphasis in Finance and Marketing. He served on various boards in the Salt Lake area which include the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Alliance, Utah Chapter of the American Lung Association, Salt Lake City Police Foundation, Junior Achievement, Rising Star Outreach,[4] and the Hale Centre Theatre’s Board of Trustees.[6]

Rigby is credited with hiring General Manager Dennis Lindsey. He negotiated broadcasting rights agreements and successfully expanded viewership to six states for all of the Jazz regular-season games in HD. Rigby also helped to create a 16-station intermountain radio network for broadcasting Jazz games. He played a role in the team's acquisition of an NBA D-League team in Idaho and, even helped revive summer league basketball in Salt Lake City.[7]

He and his wife, Sandra, have been married for 31 years. They currently have four daughters, one son, and seven grandchildren. The couple resides in Farmington, Utah, and are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
