History
In 1970s, there was a garden belonging to municipality of Beirut, which was densely covered by spruce-fir forest. Nowadays, it turns to a cemetery from various clans and religions, including 2000 martyrs. On 13 April 1975, two brothers named Mustafa and Mahdi Hashim (14 and 16 years old) were killed in the Eastern region of Beirut. During some adventures, the garden was chosen as a burial place for them, near the door of garden. By the beginning of the Lebanese Civil War, people who are killed were buried in the garden gradually.[2]
Following the explosion in training camp of Amal Movement, 3 killed people were brought to the garden for burying. Musa al-Sadr changed the name of garden to Rawdat al-Shahidain Cemetery when he came to pray for 3 killed people. In recent years Hezbollah has buried killing people in fighting with Israel in the cemetery.[2][3]
