Rena Newell

Rena D. Newell is a Passamaquoddy politician who serves as a non-voting member of the Maine House of Representatives. As of August 26, 2019, she is the only tribal representative in the Maine House of Representatives after the Penobscot and Maliseet opted to not send Representatives for the 129th Legislature.[1] Newell was an advocate in favor of ending the use of Native Americans as mascots.[2] She identifies as a political independent.[3] She is a resident of Princeton, Maine. She is a member of the Committee on Innovation, Development, Economic Advancement and Business.[4]
