Roberto Musci

Roberto Musci (March 27, 1956 in Milan, Italy) is an Italian music composer, performer, saxophonist, guitar player and video maker. From 1974 to 1985 he travelled around the world to study African, Indian, and Near & Far Eastern music, make field recordings and collect musical instruments. He combined non-European music, recorded "on field" and played with ethnic musical instruments, with contemporary music, with musical techniques derived from plunderphonics and musique concrète to create a personal musical language with which he tells stories and feelings related to his travels. He has recorded LPs and CDs for different European labels, including: Raw Material[1] Victò,[2] Lowlands, Gonzo Multimedia,[3] Leaves,[4] Island Records, Music from Memory, Soave[5] and Recommended Records). He composed and played music for films, videos commercial spots, dance, live soundtracks for silent movies, music for poems and theater. The LP "Water messages on desert sand" was Grammy-nominated in the UK in 1987.

  • At Palazzina Liberty (Milano, Italy )[30][31] from 1997 to 2002 "Senza Parole Festival" live soundtracks of Silent Movies with: Keith Tippett, Chris Cuttler, Jon Rose and Claudio Gabbiani
  • At the 32nd Bourges International Festival[32][33] he performed the piece "Music for Labyrinths" for voice & electronics at Maison de la Culture ICEM Serie : Federation Italy 01/06/2002
