Rosa Wasanthe

Rosa Wasanthe (Sinhala: රෝස වසන්තේ) is a 2001 Sri Lankan Sinhalese romantic thriller film directed by Udayakantha Warnasuriya and produced by Soma Edirisinghe for EAP Films.[1] It stars Ranjan Ramanayake, Kanchana Mendis, and debut actress Nisansala Jayatunga in lead roles along with Semini Iddamalgoda and Buddhika Jayaratne.[2] Music composed by Rohana Weerasinghe.[3] It is the 971st Sri Lankan film in the Sinhalese cinema.[4] It marks as the fifth directorial effort of Udayakantha and the fifteenth production of E.A.P Films.[5]

Plot

Hansamali is a young, village girl. She comes to Colombo for a job interview. She gets the job and stays at the home of her childhood friend named Rejini. During a rugby match, they meet a young Rugby player named Akila who is known by Rejini. Rejini introduces Hansamali to Akila and they become friends. Soon, Akila starts to work in a company. Eventually, Akila and Hansamali fall in love while Rejini has also a crush with Akila. While Rejini learns this, She leaves Hansamali. Akila and Hansamali get married and live happily. After some years, Akila meets Rejini again and learns that she has married with Gihan who was her cousin.

Hansamali gets a scholarship to Malaysia for 3 months. Hansamali moves to Malaysia and Akila lives in home alone. Rejini learns this and befriends with Akila. Eventually, this friendship turns to a relationship. Rejini comes to Akila's house and stays with him secretly to Gihan. Soon, Rejini gets pregnant with Akila's child and informs it to Akila. Akila gets shocked and feels guilty for Hansamali. He visits to Rejini and demands her to abort the child. While he leaving, he meets to Gihan and threatned by him.

Soon, Hansamali returns after finishing her course. Akila hides Rejini's truth from her. One Day, Akila has an accident while he was driving with Rejini. In hospital, Rejini lies to Akila that she had lost the child. Akila gets happy and lives happily with Hansamali. Some time later, Gihan calls Hansamali and informs her about Rejini's pregnancy for Akila's child. Hansamali is shocked and leaves home. As she leaves, Akila finds Hansamali's letter which said that She can't live with him after learning Rejini's truth. Akila lives alone at home again while Hansamali lives in village. But, soon Hansamali learns that she is also pregnant with Akila's child.

One Day, Akila gets a call from hospital. When he went to there, he learns that Rejini is died after the childbirth. The nurse informs him to Rejini was beaten by Gihan who is moved from country now which causes to Rejini's death. Akila sees the newborn baby girl and decides to take care her. Akila visits to meet Hansamali with baby. Hansamali shocks after learning Rejini's death and accepts the baby. Akila and Hansamali unites again. The film ends with Akila and Hansamali lives happily with their two daughters while Rejini's spirit watching them.
