Facilities and Shopping

Rover has a volunteer fire department that requests monetary contributions to continue operations. The fire department is staffed by, as the name suggests, volunteer firefighters. They are trained as firefighters, but do not staff the fire department full time as an incorporated city would. Therefore, the response times can be rather long.

There is a small automotive/mechanical repair business, a chuch, and a local city water office. The only store is a small grocery with gasoline and on/off road diesel available. The store stocks general necessities and has a small kitchen where they prepare food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Rover has the option, or requirement (depending on location) of water as a utility. Along with the water utility, trash service is available. The local internet service options include LTE/4G via major providers, FTTH (Fiber to the home) via the local ISP, ArkWest, with speeds from 10Mb to 1Gb, or satellite internet service. There is one small city park maintained by residents of Rover. Rover is very close to Nimrod Lake, which has swimming areas, a large dam to maintain the lake, and excellent freshwater fishing. The lake has coves surrounded by cypress trees, and long and short term RV spaces, and tent camping spaces which are maintained by Arkansas Game & Fish and Arkansas Army Corps of Engineers.

Education

Public education is administered by the Two Rivers School District, which supports:

  • Two Rivers High School—Serves students in grades 7–12.
  • Two Rivers Elementary School—Serves students in Kindergarten through 6th grade.

It was previously in the Plainview-Rover School District until July 1, 2004, when it merged into the Two Rivers School District.[3] The merged district formerly operated Plainview-Rover Elementary School (later Plainview Elementary School) and Plainview-Rover High School.[4] In 2010 Plainview-Rover High closed as Two Rivers High opened.[5] In 2012 Plainview Elementary closed as Two Rivers Elementary opened.[6]
