Royce Duplessis

Royce Duplessis is an American attorney and politician serving as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives from the 93rd district. He assumed office in 2018 after winning a special election to succeed Helena Moreno.[1]

Early life and education

Duplessis was born and raised in New Orleans.[2] He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in communications from the Xavier University of Louisiana and a Juris Doctor from the Howard University School of Law.[3]

Career

Prior to the 2018 election, Duplessis served as chief of staff to New Orleans City Councilman James Carter and special counsel to the Louisiana Supreme Court. Duplessis is the owner of a private law firm, Duplessis Law Firm, LLC, where he specializes in criminal defense and civil litigation cases.[4] After incumbent Rep. Helena Moreno was elected to the New Orleans City Council, Dupless announced his candidacy to succeed her. In the 2018 special election, Duplessis placed first in a field of four candidates.[5]
