Career

College and amateur

James played four years of college soccer at Bowling Green University between 2012 and 2015.[1] In 2012, he played with TFC Academy in the Canadian Soccer League[2] and also in 2015 in the Premier Development League where he made one appearance.[3]

Rochester Rhinos

James was drafted in the third round of the 2016 MLS SuperDraft (52nd overall) by Sporting Kansas City.[4] However, he didn't sign with Kansas City, instead joining United Soccer League side Rochester Rhinos in March 2016.[5] In December 2016, Rochester announced that James would return for the 2017 season.[6] James would play two seasons with Rochester, before the club announced they would not play in the 2018 USL season.[7]

Nashville SC

James was signed by Nashville SC in the USL on December 14, 2017.[8] On November 14, 2018, the club announced that they had not re-signed James for the 2019 season.[9]

Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC

In November 2018, James was signed by Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC for the 2019 season, with an option for 2020.[10]

Birmingham Legion

After two seasons with Pittsburgh, James would sign a multi year deal with Birmingham Legion.[11]

International career

James participated in two camps of Canada U-17 team in 2010.

He is also eligible to play for Jamaica as his father was born in Clarendon.[12]
